National Service Scheme

The Motto of NSS “Not Me But You” Reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service. It focuses on the identification of the need and problems of the community and involves them in the process of problem-solving. The philosophy of the NSS is a good doctrine in this motto, which underlines on the belief that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society as a whole and therefore, the NSS volunteers shall strive for the well-being of the society.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) was launched in 1969, the birth centenary year of the Father of Nation, by the Government of India. It is a Central sector scheme of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India (GoI). It provides an opportunity for the student youth of India, especially college students to take part in various government-led community service activities & programmes. The sole aim of the NSS is to provide hands-on experience to young students in delivering community service for a better, equal and developed society.

The NSS unit at Dhanauri P.G. College provides a platform to the students and faculty for community work and developing a sense of involvement in the tasks of nation-building. We aim to develop the competence required for group-living and sharing of responsibilities, gain skills in mobilising community participation, acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes and practise national integration and social harmony. Throughout the session, various activities & events are organized, which channelize the energy and idealism of the younger generation into creative pursuits.
